D28 Elite Program Q & A

Registration is now open for our District 28 Elite Development program with our partners over at Baseball Resource Group (BRG).
We have had a ton of interest so we wanted to clear up a few of the questions that have come up during the anticipation of our program.

Q: Is this a travel ball program where teams will come in fully formed?
A: No, this program is not a travel ball format. What we concentrating on is the training and development of players within our local Little Leagues.

Q: Do I have to be registered with Little League to participate?
A: The purpose of this program is to help better develop the talent within our local leagues. All players are to be registered with their local league to participate.

Q: What if my league does not have enough players for a team?
A:There is no need for your league to send a full team. If any league wishes to send only a set number of players will be fine. We will build teams from all players that register for the program.

Q: Can I participate in the program if I am from outside the District?
A: Absolutely, We have gotten a lot of interest from neighboring Districts.
Although our program is a pilot program we fully intend to grow it to include as many districts as possible.

Q: What are the age requirements?
A: Our program is currently for players ages 13-16, however we will accept younger players with recommendation from their league presidents.

Q: Is there a similar program for the younger players?
A: We are developing a similar program for younger players but that will not be
available this fall. We will however host 2 tournaments for all divisions of play this fall. 1 in October and 1 in November. We are highly encouraging the local leagues to form teams and send them to those tournaments to give the players some additional games this fall.

Q: Why should I register for this program?
A: The partnership that D28 and BRG have formed was made possible because we have the same vision of helping the players within our Little League programs. Our goal is to level the playing field for rec ball players to help them be more competitive in their pursuit to play HS/College baseball. Our board, staff and instructors have over 150 years of professional experience as MLB/MiLB players, coaches and scouts. Some are retired, and some are still active with MLB organizations. Names include Reggie Smith, Tarrik Brock, Chris Gwynn, Mike Sweeney, Steve Keifer, Gary Patchett, Robert “Bobby” Gould, and Tony Gonzalez to name a few.

Q: What will be included with the registration?
· 6 weeks (Friday & Saturday) 3-4 hours/session
· 6 weeks of games Sunday (through District 28)
· All district tournament hosted by District 28
· YBIP All-Star game hosted by BRG (location TBD)
